Made of natural bridle leather. Featuring our own custom made brass hooks, which are the most accurate ones on the market. All edges of the bottom flesh side are beveled off, and grain side is creased along edge, which, when used together, eliminates the sharp edges that one finds on most amateur leather work. Stiched with three plies of hand twisted linen cord, drawn through kit containing pure pine pitch. This sling bears the Federal contract mark of J. Condict of New York. The sling is complete with brass buckle and hook. The sling is made of black leather. The brass components show heavy age and patina. The black leather is supple and strong, and looks good, but it does have some surface finish loss and crazing. That said, this piece is strong. The brass buckle is marked with the letter F, and the leather is marked with an inspector stamp of A. The sling is approximately 42 long including the buckle and the hook. The sling is 1 7/8 wide. However, i cannot find any stampings in the leather, and the brass is unmarked. The back of the strap has the number 20 stamped in paint. I haven’t unhooked the sling, but it is approximately 42 long including the buckle and the hook. The sling is 1 7/8 wide. This is a great looking early sling that will display well!
