ORIGINAL LEATHER US 1st MODEL FROG 1887 KRAG TRAPDOOR & SPRINGFIELD RIFLE SLING
Very nice looking sling overall. This is an original leather sling from a Krag or Trapdoor. This sling type can and was used on other rifles up to 1907 and beyond. It has very good brass hardware and very good leather. The frog is of the 1st design with the thinner legs. The keeper stitching is very strong as is the section that holds the two sling leather pieces together. The leather is strong and will easily hold the weight of a rifle, including the keepers. The leather has medium and darker medium brown colors. The leather is soft and pliable with some minor wear spots. Some hairline cracks but not that many. Some cracking just after the joint section. Surface wrinkles, spider wrinkles and smooth leather for the most part. A curved of wear can be seen near the button. It measures approximately 69 3/4 inches. The backside of the leather looks very good. The tip is stamped with what looks like “G W”. I will be posting more of these slings.
