I believe this to be for one of the Polish WZ or Mauser model rifles from WWII or just prior. Buckle is steel, which seems consistent with Polish. Steel button is present and in good condition. Leather has the fish scale/crosshatched pattern similar to what’s seen on German slings. It’s in solid condition and suitable for careful use. Sling is 57 long and an inch wide. Original WWI Era US Army/USMC M1907 Leather Sling for the M1903 Springfield or M1917 Enfield Rifle – Marked: P. 1917 – Very Nice Condition. Up for sale is an Original WWI Era US Army/USMC M1907 Leather Sling. It is clearly marked: P. This sling has the correct WWI Blackened Brass hooks. Still retains some of the original blackening on the brass hooks. The sling is used, see photo’s for condition. The sling has both leather keepers. The leather is soft and supple. No rips or tears in the leather. There are some minor surface cracks and wrinkling of the leather, please see photos. The leather has darkened due to age. The stitching is all tight and intact. This is an Original Functional WWI era Sling and would look great on a WWI era rifle. NOTE: this is a collectible item, suitable for a correct historic display. It is NOT recommened for actual use.
