Indian War Era US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Sling – 4th Pattern – Original – Nice Condition. This is the 4th Pattern Sling, with the wide prong hook at one end and a brass stud loop at the other end. The sling is approximatley 1 1/4″ wide x 65″ long. The sling has the oval holes. This sling is a single length, NOT made from salvage civil was musket slings that were sewen together. The leather is soft and supple. No deep cracks or crazing. No breaks through the leather. It has the original sling keeper. Still has the original rich dark brown color. No visible markings on the sling. There is an H. Inspector marking on the end of the sling by the stud. The sling is used, please see photo’s for condition. The age of the leather, will make the sling weaker than when it was new, and may not be able to support the weight of the weapon.
