Indian War Era US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Sling – 3rd Pattern – Marked: Rock Island Arsenal- Original – Nice Condition. This is the 3rd Pattern Sling, with the narrow prong hook at one end and a brass stud loop at the other end. The sling is approximatley 1 1/4″ wide x 65″ long. The sling has the round holes. This sling is a single length, NOT made from salvage civil was musket slings that were sewen together. The leather is soft and supple. Minor surface cracking on the surface of the sling. No deep cracks or crazing. No breaks through the leather. It has the original sling keepers. Still has the original rich dark brown color. It has a faint Rock Island Arsenal markings on the sling. The sling is used, please see photo’s for condition. The age of the leather, will make the sling weaker than when it was new, and may not be able to support the weight of the weapon. Offered is a leather adjustable Prairie Rattler Rifle sling. This sling is hand-made and the snake skin is hand tanned. The sling is adjustable from 34″ to 40″ with a total overall length of 44.5. This sling was hand crafted in the US and covered in snakeskin that was hand tanned and crafted. This is a beautiful sling that would be an attractive addition to any rifle or shotgun. Sling Sling is 3 inches wide at shoulder, slims to 1 inch. COMPLETELY Hand made out of 7oz American cow leather. Tanned and Dyed with vegetable oils and alcohols. Permeated with Neatsfoot Oil, front and back. Waxed front and back (lightly on back so as to still breathe). Adjustable from 34 to 40 inches; at both ends Sling is 3 inches wide at shoulder, slims to 1 inch. Tested this processing of leather out to 15 years, with no drying out or ill effects.
