You are looking at a super rare Civil War Confederate Maynard Carbine Leather Sling rifle holder. This is a southern made carbine sling for the Confederate States of America. You can see two of these slings in photo’s of a Private and Orderly Sergeant In Captain F. Montgomery’s “Bolivar Troop” Company H in the 1st Mississippi Cavalry. 1st Cavalry Regiment was assembled during the spring of 1862. Its companies were recruited in the counties of Carroll. Tishomingo, Itawamba, Quitman, Noxubee, Bolivar, and Pontotoc. The unit served in the Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana, then was assigned to W. Jackson’s, Ross’, Cosby’s, and F. Armstrong’s Brigade, Department of Alabama. It contained 22 officers and 220 men in July, 1862 and confronted the Federals in various conflicts in. Later the regiment was involved in the operations in. And Middle Tennessee where its casualties were 2 killed and 27 wounded. It went on to fight in North Georgia and.
