Indian War Era US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Leather Rifle Sling – 4th Pat. Very Nice Condition. Up for sale is an. Indian War Era US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Leather Rifle Sling – 4th Pattern. The leather is soft and supple. The leather has darkened with age, dark brown in color. This is the 4th pattern sling with the wide hooks and oval holes. This is an early 4th Pattern sling, that was made from two savalaged civil war slings sewn together. There are some surface cracks in the sling and some wrinkling. It has the brass stud, see photo. These slings are getting very difficult to find. Check out my other items.
