Vintage Indian War US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Leather Rifle Sling. This is the very early 2 piece sewn together style that was made from leftover Civil War slings. What you see is exactly what you get. This sling measures just about 68 in length. The leather is fairly supple for as old as it is. It is missing the brass tab at the end and does have a crack that has a repair in that spot. (See pictures) Stitching is very good at sewn spot, brass hook at top seems a little frail. I do not see any makers marks but I could be looking in the wrong spot. Original WWII Era US Army/USMC M1907 Leather Sling for the M1903 Springfield, M1918 BAR or M1917 Enfiled – Marked: MILSCO 1943 – Nice Condition. The sling is faintly marked MILSCO and dated 1943. This sling has the correct WWII Steel hooks. The sling is used, see photo’s for condition. The sling has both leather keeper. The leather is soft and supple. There is some minor wrinkling and cracks on the surface of the leather. The leather has darken with age. The stitching is all tight and intact. This is an Original WWII era Sling and would look great on a WWII era rifle. NOTE: this is a collectible item, suitable for a correct historic display. It is NOT recommened for actual use. Indian War Era US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Sling – 4th Pattern – Original – Nice Condition. This is the Early Longer, 4th Pattern Sling, with the wide prong hook at one end and a brass stud loop at the other end. The sling is approximatley 1 1/4″ wide x 70″ long. The sling has the oval holes. This sling is made from a single length of leather, NOT the salvage civil war musket slings that were sewen together. The leather is soft and supple. Some surface cracks, no crazing on the surface of the leather. No breaks through the leather. It has the original sling keepers. Still has the original dark brown color. The sling is faintly marked with the inspector initals at the tip of the sling. There is also an extremely faint Rock Island Arsenal marking, barely visible. The sling is used, please see photo’s for condition. The age of the leather, will make the sling weaker than when it was new, and may not be able to support the weight of the weapon.
