This is the 5th Pattern Sling, with the wide prong hook at one end and a brass stud loop at the other end. The sling is approximately 1 1/4″ wide x 65″ long. The sling has the oval holes. This sling is made from salvage civil war musket slings that were sewen together. The leather is soft and supple. No deep cracks or crazing. No breaks through the leather. It has the original sling keepers. Still has the original rich dark brown color. No visible markings on the sling. The sling is used, please see photo’s for condition. Handcrafted rifle sling, made by Seelye Leather Works. Hand tooled, made from veg-tanned cow (embossed Alligator) and backed with American Bison. The sling is padded, adjustable, and has brass chicago screw fasteners. The sling starting length is 30 1/2″ long and adjust out to 33″ long. The sling also has a US Army concho accent. All of SLW items are handcrafted, each item is unique. SLW uses only the finest natural leather, and the natural surface of leather has its own characteristics. The proof of its uniqueness is the markings that occur during the life of the animal. Leather used to create the products of SLW will include scratches, scars, brands, insect bites, indentations and scuffs. This sling has the correct WWI Blackened Brass hooks. The sling is used, see photo’s for condition. The sling has both leather keepers. The leather is soft and supple. There is some minor wrinkling and cracking on the surface of the leather. The leather has darken with age, but still retains most of that rich dark brown color. The stitching is all tight and intact. One hook is missing a rivet, see photo’s. This is an Original Functional WWI era Sling and would look great on a WWI era rifle.
