US CIVIL WAR / INDIAN WARS ERA? LEATHER RIFLE SLING with DOUBLE WIRE BRASS HOOK M. I looked at this with a few people and we all believe it is a Civil War to Indian Wars era sling. It has all of the physical characteristics of an 1800s leather rifle sling. Sharps, Spencer or Henry type of rifle. 51 ¼ inches of leather and the total length is 28 ¼ inches. Keeper hook is in very good and straight condition. It is securely fastened within the end of the sling with strong leather and stitching. On the backside of the sling, there is a hole reinforcement of 24 ¾ inches. Of that, about 2 ¼ inches of it has come undone due to the stitching has broken. The backside is a rough texture common to leather. The hole reinforcement is slightly rough. The leather keeper is securely attached and has a small area of surface cracking. The top of the sling is a mixture of smooth, some surface cracking, and some areas of normal surface wear. The leather is strong and pliable. It is stamped within a rectangle: M. We do not believe this to be the year of manufacture. But rather a lot or other identification number. Currently not sure what this is for. If anyone has any additional information, please let me know. The item “US CIVIL WAR / INDIAN WARS ERA LEATHER RIFLE SLING with DOUBLE WIRE BRASS HOOK” is in sale since Saturday, August 14, 2021. STEINER Rifle Sling Leather Brown. Steiner Leather Safari Rifle/Gun Sling Model 7611. Made in Germany with the finest natural cowhide, tanned to a warm chestnut color. Featuring internal padding, which makes this leather sling very comfortable. The back side of the Steiner Safari sling is textured suede material that will keep it on your shoulder and prevent slipping. The Steiner leather rfile-sling also features solid brass tacks that add to the classic looks. CHECK OUT MY OTHER STUFF! Most holsters I sell are molded from the exact model mold which makes errors nonexistent. Different brands require more break in than others. Breaking in a good leather holster is mandatory for it to function; when it is new you may not be able to draw the firearm from it as quickly as you might need it. After you have checked the holster for suitability and broken it in correctly, then your can bet your life that it will hold the gun securely, protect the gun from inadvertent access, and allow you to get the gun quickly when you need it. There are plenty of articles online for breaking in a leather holster. I get many messages about the thumb snap (if applicable). The thumb snap is difficult to get snapped on many holsters when you first get it. You have to work leather. Bottom line, if you get it and it is not fitting the high percentage of time is that you have not seated it fully or worked it fully. One method I enjoy is wrapping the pistol, unloaded, in a plastic wrap or bag and stuffing that into the holster overnight or for a few days. If you are purchasing a holster please make sure you have a proper gun belt. All holsters should be worn with a proper gun belt. Also, all holsters should be worn with the belt fully tightened, but not uncomfortable. Never wear your holster loose, sagging pants, or without a proper gun belt. We are Not responsible for negligence. Most items I sell do not support tall sights or dots.
