Wwii Us M1907 Leather Sling For M1 Garand Double Marked Milsco 1944
WWII US M1907 LEATHER RIFLE SLING. FOR’03 SPRINGFIELD OR M1 GARAND. DOUBLE MARKED MILSCO 1944. This WWII US M907 Leather Rifle Sling belonged to a friend of mine who recently passed away. He set aside vintage military items over the years. This sling was on a WWII US M1 Garand rifle used in one of his displays. This particular sling shows only light use/wear and the tan leather is slightly dry but remains solid/supple overall The sling is complete with both the correct parts (see photos). The leather strapping has no elongated holes and both leather keepers are present/intact (see photos). The fittings are steel (as opposed to the earlier WWI brass fittings) indicating WWII manufacture and both remain securely attached (see photos). This sling is double marked with MILSCO 1944 stamped to the leather below each fitting (see photos). This WWII US M1907 leather sling remains solid/complete showing only light use/wear. It makes an excellent presentation and would be perfect for a display on the appropriate US rifle. It is guaranteed to be an original period piece as described. Great opportunity for the US field gear collector to have a completely original example. Please check my other listings for other items from the same collection. FIXED PRICE, 30 Day Listing. Terms and Conditions I MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO IDENTIFY, DESCRIBE & PHOTOGRAPH THE ITEMS AND CONDITIONS. PLEASE DON’T HESITATE TO CONTACT ME WITH ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS. US CIVIL WAR / INDIAN WARS ERA LEATHER RIFLE SLING with DOUBLE WIRE BRASS HOOK
US CIVIL WAR / INDIAN WARS ERA? LEATHER RIFLE SLING with DOUBLE WIRE BRASS HOOK M. I looked at this with a few people and we all believe it is a Civil War to Indian Wars era sling. It has all of the physical characteristics of an 1800s leather rifle sling. Sharps, Spencer or Henry type of rifle. 51 ¼ inches of leather and the total length is 28 ¼ inches. Keeper hook is in very good and straight condition. It is securely fastened within the end of the sling with strong leather and stitching. On the backside of the sling, there is a hole reinforcement of 24 ¾ inches. Of that, about 2 ¼ inches of it has come undone due to the stitching has broken. The backside is a rough texture common to leather. The hole reinforcement is slightly rough. The leather keeper is securely attached and has a small area of surface cracking. The top of the sling is a mixture of smooth, some surface cracking, and some areas of normal surface wear. The leather is strong and pliable. It is stamped within a rectangle: M. We do not believe this to be the year of manufacture. But rather a lot or other identification number. Currently not sure what this is for. If anyone has any additional information, please let me know. The item “US CIVIL WAR / INDIAN WARS ERA LEATHER RIFLE SLING with DOUBLE WIRE BRASS HOOK” is in sale since Saturday, August 14, 2021.
