This is an original WW2 era Mauser K98 leather shoulder strap/sling. The leather has no waffen stamps or date/maker markings. The leather is soft and shows signs of use/aging, but is completely in tact. There are a few minor scuffs on the leather as well. This M1907 Military Rifle Sling is hand-made by me in a small one man shop. This sling is made from 8/10 oz. The sling claws are solid brass and attached with solid brass Chicago Screws. Color of this sling is TAN– NO DYE was used to get the Tan color, the sling was treated with Montana Pitch Blend Oil and then finished with Montana Pitch Blend Paste and Aussie Leather Conditioner followed with a Neutral Hand Rubbed Wax finish and then set in the sun for a few days to achieve this color. All edges are hand burnished and sealed with 100% Pure Local Bees Wax. This sling is sewn with #277 Military Spec. Polyester Cord with a tensile strength of approx. The belt keepers are hand-sewn, using a saddle stich, with Bees waxed Braded Polyester cord, 1.1mm thick. This sling is approx. 50 1/2 Long Strap , Short Strap is approx. There are a total of 24 adjustment holes in the Long Strap and 16 adjustment holes in the Short Strap. Leather is a natural product, so it has a characteristic of its own… There maybe some scars or other blemishes, but this adds to the uniqueness of handmade natural products, no two, truly handmade products, are alike. With quality leather products, there is a breaking in period… Please do not force the leather to conform in the way as you can a canvas or nylon sling–if you bend or squeeze the leather tight against your swivels during the breaking in period, you will crack it and this can not be repaired. Take your time with this sling and enjoy it… Using it is the best way to break it in. If you take care of this heavy handcrafted leather sling, it will last you many years and may become a treasured heirloom for generations to come.
