leather rifle sling

This sling was originally made from 3 sections that are sewed together and the stitching is very strong. It has one brass hook that has a nice shape to it and is securely fastened. The vast majority of the surface is very nice with some surface wear on the end that has the keeper. Both keepers are very nice but the stitching has come loose where the ends meet. This sling measures 59 1/2″ by 1 1/8″ wide. It is in amazing condition for its age. Markings and no keeper so I’m not exactly sure which gun this would fit. Could clean corrosion away from (2) brass hooks but that’s your call. If you know what gun this fits please let me know so I can pass it on. Offered is an original Civil War era rifle/musket leather sling. Sling is complete with both loops and brass hook still attached. It is not marked that I could find. But, it does bear the initials “LD” and an carved on the sling (see photographs). Some heavy crazing and loss of finish to the leather surface but no cracks have progressed through the leather. The sling is still soft and pliable and could be easily added to a period firearm if done with care. I believe this sling is US made, but could be a European import of the era.
