Indian War Era US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Sling – 4th Pattern – Original – Nice Condition. This is the 4th Pattern Sling, with the wide prong hook at one end and a brass stud loop at the other end. The sling is approximatley 1 1/4″ wide x 65″ long. The sling has the oval holes. This sling is made from salvage civil was musket slings that were sewen together. The leather is soft and supple. No deep cracks or crazing. No breaks through the leather. It has the original sling keepers. Still has the original rich dark brown color. No visible markings on the sling. The sling is used, please see photo’s for condition. The leather is soft and supple, no cracking or breaks in the leather. It has the original sling keeper. Still has the original rich dark brown color. The sling was made by a commercial firm. It is marked Ridabock & Co, New York. This was probably used by a State Militia or Guard Unit. The sling is used, please see photo’s for condition.
