An as-new custom leather rifle sling by G. William Davis & Son. It has Gordon’s later Walnut, CA mark. The sling may be unused. There’s a little verdigris (the green waxy substance that forms on some metals) on the edges of some of the brass hardware. This is normal, whether the piece is used or just stored. Otherwise, there’s no marks or scars or wrinkles to the leather. It’s a cobra-style sling, padded leather, with some basketweave and buckskin decoration. The “D” monogram is silver-colored metal and nearly flush with the leather. The sling length is adjustable from about 27 inches to almost 33 inches, shorter than most. This may have been made for a lady. The adjustment strap is 1 wide and the widest part of the padded section is 3 inches. The small leather knife/accessory case at the bottom (butt) end of the sling is 3 inches deep and about 1-1/2 inches wide. A top-quality custom sling from Davis.
