Original WWI Era US Army/USMC M1907 Leather Sling for the M1903 Springfield or M1917 Enfield Rifle – Very Nice Condition. Up for sale is an Original WWI Era US Army/USMC M1907 Leather Sling. It is marked: R-S over G. This sling has the correct WWI Blackened Brass hooks. Still retains some of the original blackening on the brass hooks. The sling is used, see photo’s for condition. The sling has both leather keepers. The leather is soft and pliable. No rips or tears in the leather. There are some minor surface cracks and wrinkling of the leather, please see photos. The leather has darkened due to age, but still has that rich russet brown color. The stitching is all tight and intact. This is an Original Functional WWI era Sling and would look great on a WWI era rifle. NOTE: this is a collectible item, suitable for a correct historic display. It is NOT recommended for actual use. I kindly appreciate all the interest from my past listing of this sling and I have spent the past 2 weeks constructing another sling, so offered here is a great replica of the famous, impossible to find, USAF M13 Aircrewman shoulder pistol holster sling that was made famous by Lee Harvey Oswald when he used it with his (using the term “his” loosely) Italian Carcano rifle on November 22nd, 1963 in Dallas Texas. This replica is handmade nearly exact to the original I have, including the original style crimp fit plain faced double cap rivets, etc. Please see my pics of my original sling next to this replica to see the near exact construction and dimensions. Has both leather keepers… Leather is strong overall with minor surface cracks here and there.. There is a white powdery substance in the holes which will easily clean out.. Will make a great display… I usually recommend these not go out in the field to to age and they just don’t make em anymore…. This is my last 1907 sling for sale.
