The leather is very strong, soft and pliable. It is stamped BOYT 43. It is faint on the left and deeper on the right. It will hold the weight of a rifle just fine. It has strong stitching. The surface is very smooth. Very little surface cracking. It comes with 2 very nice keepers. One is a reproduction. The other original one has strong. Strong and well attached.
