This is a very nice sling with. He color is a. Darker brown and is pretty. The leather is firm. The longer section is very smooth and has little wear. And some very minor surface cracking. The shorter section has minor surface wrinkling and cracking with some. Hole pairs having some surface cracking. The frogs are securely attached. And have normal finish wear. With a WWI date. Are hard to read. Comes with 2 nice sling keepers. All stitching is strong and completely intact. See my other sling listings. Covers nearly all the stock leaving hand area free. 10 sturdy shell holders are set in a angle for maximum area use allowing 5- 410′s up front and 5-45LC’s in rear or what ever combo you desire. Decorative lace and lanyard added both in cover and sling which is 12 oz leather of same. It might look complicated to install but isnt! Just lace on the bottom from front to back like a shoe. The sling is equipped to hold 5-410′s and 5 45LC’ too and lined. This combo is functional, comfortable, protective and pretty darn neat looking! Note: I can add initials too if desired at no charge! Description: this is a vintage, authentic, World War One USGI, M1907 leather rifle sling. This sling is approximately 104 years old! This is the real deal. This was a US government issue leather sling for World War 1. Notice ” Chicago belting Company” logo stamped on the sling. I have read that to gauge the authenticity of items like this, the brass keepers(frogs) are very important. You’ll notice close-up photos, and they look like they are connected with brass rivets. I bought this item from the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) who received it from US Army warehouses, probably attached to a rifle. The slings were detached, folded carefully and put in storage. I can show a copy of my receipt upon request. Provenance is: US Government, to the CMP, to me. It was in storage, possibly, for 50 years or more! There are no tears evident. This is for a museum piece rifle, or for a collector to put on their World war one M1903, M1903A3, or M1 Garand World War 2 rifle. BONUS: included free with this sling are some National Rifle and Pistol Match memorabilia from Camp Perry, Ohio. This will be in the form of stickers and/or a commemorative hat pin.
