This sling has the correct WWI Blackened Brass hooks. The sling is used, see photo’s for condition. The sling has both leather keeper. The leather is soft and supple. There is some minor wrinkling on the surface of the leather. The leather has darken with age. The stitching is all tight and intact. Indian War Era US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Sling – 3rd Pattern – Marked: Rock Island Arsenal- Original – Nice Condition. This is the 3rd Pattern Sling, with the narrow prong hook at one end and a brass stud loop at the other end. The sling is approximatley 1 1/4″ wide x 65″ long. The sling has the round holes. This sling is a single length, NOT made from salvage civil was musket slings that were sewen together. The leather is soft and supple. Minor surface cracking on the surface of the sling. No deep cracks or crazing. No breaks through the leather. It has the original sling keepers. Still has the original rich dark brown color. It has a faint Rock Island Arsenal markings on the sling. The sling is used, please see photo’s for condition. The age of the leather, will make the sling weaker than when it was new, and may not be able to support the weight of the weapon.
