Spanish-American War Era US M1898 Leather Sling for the Krag Rifle – Original – NICE Condition. Up for sale is a Spanish American War US M1898 Leather Sling for the Krag Rifle. This is the later sling designed specifically for the M1898 Krag Rifle. It has a single brass hook with a loop end and brass stud. The leather is soft and supple. There are surface cracks in the leather, see photos. No tears in the leather. It has both leather sling keepers and the brass stud. The sling is used, please see photos for condition. This sling over 125 year old may not be strong enough to support the weight of the rifle. Attempting to use this sling to actually carry a rifle will probably break the sling. DO NOT use this sling to carry your rifle. Check out my other items. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Militaria\Spanish-Amer War (1898-1902)\Original Period Items”. The seller is “koolstuff1958″ and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped to United States.

This is an original K98k. I’m not sure whether it’s German or Israeli, however. These slings were also used on the G41, G43, K43, Mkb42, MP43, MP44, and STG44 rifles. It is brown leather, 53 inches long (measured unfolded, entire length), one inch wide, has what appears to be a blued brass or bronze slide buckle, also the keeper/loop. Cross-hatch embossing (aka ricasso pattern). The only marking I can find is a number on the sling itself… It’s a bit stiff but is pliable and has no cracks or breaks that I can see.
