I’m pleased to offer an ORIGINAL USGI military l. Eather rifle sling for either the. Trapdoor, Krag, or 1903 Springfield rifles with the single brass hook and both leather keepers. Condition is used but good and the leather is moderately supple with no large cracks. A great sling for display. The original manufactures marking can be seen but aren’t clear. I think its “ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL” but can’t see the date. At some point, someone wrote (scribed) on the back of the sling. I can see (in cursive) L. K, OIL CITY, PA U. It’s very light and barely discernable. An interesting history to the sling. This is an original leather sling from a Krag. This sling type can and was used on other rifles in the later 1800s. It has very good brass hardware and very good leather. The keeper stitching is very strong. The leather is strong and will easily hold the weight of a rifle, including the keepers. The leather has medium and darker medium brown colors. The leather is firm and pliable with some minor wear spots. About 1/3 of the frog keeper holes have a minor surface crack and there is one near the frog. Areas that look like wrinkles are minor surface cracks. There is an extra pair of frog keeper holes in-between two other pairs. They look like the other holes so this may just be a factory error that adds something rare and unique to the sling. Very nice looking sling. It measures approximately 67 ½ inches inches. The backside of the leather looks very good. The item “ORIGINAL LEATHER US MILITARY KRAG, TRAPDOOR & SPRINGFIELD RIFLE SLING” is in sale since Saturday, May 25, 2019. I removed from sling from a Springfield Trapdoor. This would be ideal for a vintage Springfield. It appears to be from that same vintage, but I’m not certain. The leather shows dry cracking but nothing out of the ordinary for this age. No markings that I could find on it. The sling is 1. Parts Questions and Requests. This would include fitment, period correct installation, additional pictures, etc. I would love to help you in any which way I can! Please be certain that all vintage parts are installed correctly and safely. We recommend a visual inspection and installation by a qualified gunsmith to assure utmost safety. I always strive to be fair and honest in my auctions! The item “Leather Sling From Springfield Trapdoor Brass Fittings Good Shape” is in sale since Tuesday, May 21, 2019.
