Original WWI Era US Army/USMC M1907 Leather Sling for the M1903 Springfield, M1918 BAR or M1917 Enfiled – Dated 1918 – Very Nice Condition. The sling is dated 1918. This sling has the correct WWI Blackened Brass hooks. The sling is used, see photo’s for condition. The sling has both leather keeper. The leather is soft and supple. There is some minor wrinkling on the surface of the leather. The leather has darken with age. The stitching is all tight and intact. This is an Original Functional WWI era Sling and would look great on a WWI era rifle. NOTE: this is a collectible item, suitable for a correct historic display. It is NOT recommened for actual use. This is the sling that was commonly used on the M1917 Enfield, the M1 Garand, the M1903 Springfield, the M1903A3 Springfield and the M1941 Johnson Rifles. Check out my other items. This leather sling is in very good condition. It has minor surface wear. It is very strong. All parts are intact and function as they should. No markings that I can find. There are some surface cracks here and there where the sling would have bent. It is marked very well “10 GA JOHNSON” & JOHNSON 10 GA. This is the 4th Pattern Sling, with the wide prong hook at one end and a brass stud loop at the other end. The sling is approximatley 1 1/4″ wide x 65″ long. The sling has the oval holes. This sling is made from a single length of leather, NOT the salvage civil war musket slings that were sewen together. The leather is starting to stiffen, but is still supple and pliable. Some wrinkling and minor surface cracks in the leather, no crazing. It has the original sling keepers. Still has the original dark brown color. The sling is marked: Rock Island Arsenal. The sling is used, please see photo’s for condition. The age of the leather, will make the sling weaker than when it was new, and may not be able to support the weight of the weapon.
